Liquorice Recipes

For something different why not try one of our delicious culinary delights or try Liquorice root tea for a soothing hot drink.

LIQUORICE ROOT TEA

For the perfect cup of root tea for a sweet and soothing taste.

Take one or two sticks of Liquorice root
(depending on taste)
Gently scrape of the bark
Cut into small pieces
Pour hot water over and leave to infuse for a few minutes.
Discard liquorice pieces and ENJOY!!!

LIQUORICE ICE CREAM

Ingredients:
6 large egg yolks
1 – ½ cups of milk
½ cup of sugar
2 sticks of soft Finnish liquorice cut into one-inch pieces
1tsp vanilla extract

Method: Whisk egg yolks in a large bowl. In a saucepan, combine remaining ingredients, except vanilla, and place over a medium heat. Stir frequently until mixture just comes to the boil. In a steady stream, slowly whisk mixture into the beaten egg yolks. Return mixture to the pan over a medium low heat and cook, stirring constantly do not allow to boil. Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla and strain mixture through a fine sieve into a bowl. Discard Liquorice pieces. Cover and chill in refrigerator. Freeze in an ice cream maker 20-30 minutes until frozen.

LIQUORICE JELLY WOBBLER

Ingredients:
Blackcurrant jelly mix
Original liquorice pieces cut to one-inch pieces

Method: Make up jelly as per instructions on packet, add pieces of liquorice and candy after jelly has cooled slightly and leave to set in the refrigerator.
